Evian Couture Water Bottle

My fantastic find today and you won't believe where.... Big Lots! (and only $1) I rarely go in there but today on my lunch break I stopped in to come across this beautiful Evian water bottle. First thing that came to mind is how perfect this would be as the favors for the Bridal shower I am having and for my table decor for the baby shower I am also hosting (in a couple months). Decorate it with some ribbon with my theme colors and Presto!!

Who says water can’t be fashionable? Celebrated clothing designer Christian Lacroix has officially made his foray into consumer goods with the chic limited edition Christian Lacroix Evian Water Bottle.

These stunning 750 ml glass bottles mark the first time that Evian has brought in a famous designer to helm the project of their yearly limited edition bottle. They come painted in a beautiful couture white coppice pattern with an adorning ‘Christian Lacroix’ on the bottle itself .
There is absolutely nothing plastic about this bottle, and the quality is as good as it gets! It even opens with a traditional bottle opener, thoughtful of its true lavish nature.

Now a few words by Mr. CL himself: : “It seems that Evian natural spring water has been there all my life. I remember the curly label of my childhood (were they arabesques, elaborate columns?) in the hotels of the lake where our family used to spend holidays. They came the streamlined graphics, like a futuristic and timeless dress of the Sixties, and the small bottles you could find all over the world, the design bottles, collected every winter of that millennium. Life a foretelling. It is therefor an amused and rather proud old friend that I designed these bottles. Draping one with the flowers of success, those that adorn the ‘paseo’ parade capes, like snowy crystal garlands or frost-frozen alpine flowers. Giving the other the silhouette of a princess, a goddess or a mythical creature, a sort of snow fairy in couture garb, crowned with flowers, bejewelled with crystals, “wearing” the familiar range of jagged peaks and ridges, like the flounces of a crinoline.”
What a perfect water for any sort of event.... conferences, weddings, showers, engagements, or any other special or commemorative event.
Once the showers come around I will share the pictures of my successful and creative event!

Penis Cupcakes

One of my really good friends Heather had her Bachelorette party and I was in charge of the dessert. I had a penis cakepan for a cake but misplaced it and had to change my plans.....

Think... think... so I figured what could I do with cupcakes? They are easy to transport and each bachelorette diva can get one all to herself?! I went to the grocery store and looked for shapes to make a penis for my cupcake topping. I found the "100 calorie" (perfect for those dieting divas) in a pack of nutty peanut shaped cookies and the cinnamon swirl cookies. They were perfect to shape an outline for a penis! Then... I got the black chocolate sprinkles to finish off my masterpiece!

Tell me what you think of my new Penis Cupcake creation!

Cupcake Liners

I found these super fancy cupcake liners today from Paper Orchid.
These would be beautiful for a elegant bridal shower, wedding or birthday.
I have fallen in love with these!

Pretty in Pink Punch

This photo caught my eye for its pretty pink color. Then the recipe sounded just as good as it looked. This Pretty in Pink Punch would be great for a Girls night dinner, Baby Girl Shower, Bridal Shower, Bridal Luncheon, Child's Birthday, Mother's day and more! (I did a similar punch at a Bridal shower, themed colored pink and brown) The recipe includes instructions for both non-alcoholic and alcoholic versions so you can please everyone.

Pretty in Pink Punch

Makes about 9 cups

Ingredients
1 (12-oz.) can frozen pink lemonade concentrate, thawed (photo from southernliving.com)
4 cups white cranberry juice cocktail
1 qt. club soda, chilled
Garnish: fresh mint sprigs

Preparation
Stir together lemonade concentrate and cranberry juice cocktail in a large pitcher. Cover and chill at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours. Stir in club soda just before serving. Garnish, if desired.

Champagne Punch: Substitute 1 (750-milliliter) bottle extra-dry Champagne or sparkling wine and 1/4 cup orange liqueur for club soda; proceed with recipe as directed

Pom Poms

Thought this a really cute decor idea for a baby or bridal shower. They're lightweight so you don't have to worry about them coming crashing down and are easy and inexpensive to make.
Over at marthastewart.com, there's instructions on how to make these tissue paper pom-poms with your own materials. Or, you can buy the kit with all materials included (at your local crafts store like Michaels or Joann fabrics).

Save the pom poms for the nursery of the Mommy to be.

Book Shower Templates

Book Shower Templates

I love the idea of a children's book-themed shower where guests are asked to bring a favorite childhood book of theirs as their gift. (or you can theme your Bridal shower to your preference and still ask each guest to bring a book). Sure, you may not end up with the bottle warmer you actually need, but you're certain to receive gifts that hold a certain amount of sentimental signficance from your guests.
A downside of the book shower? The person who will receive most pleasure from the books isn't yet born and will probably have a difficult time recalling who gave which book and why when thinking back on his or her in utero memories.
I found these Gifted Bookplates to go along with the books you'll receive as gifts. The bookplate serves both as a space to note who gave the book as well as a place for the gift-giver to leave a special message for the baby.
These bookplates can be printed on adhesive-backed or regular paper (try using colored paper) that you adhere with a glue-stick or double-stick tape.
If you're planning a book shower, you can choose to send off a bookplate or two as part of the invitation. Let the guest know that you'd love them to bring a favorite childhood book and for them to write out their message for the baby on the bookplate. Or, in the tradition of most showers, make the message-writing an activity during the event itself.
Not throwing or having a baby shower anytime soon? You can use these bookplates on any book you plan to give -- even ones directly from you to your little one.

10 Ways to Green your Wedding

1. Choose a green location to have your wedding and/or reception. This could be a park, a museum, or a local charity venue. You could also look for hotels or restaurants that are green, either by serving organic menus or adopting a code of green business ethics such as recycling, buying local and donating part of their proceeds to charity. Check listings such as Green America’s (formerly Co-op America) National Green Pages.

2. Serve an organic and local menu. Supporting local farms and businesses is important and your food will be fresher. Try to find a caterer that uses local and organic ingredients to make dishes. Everything from your cake to your appetizers, even your drinks can be organic but even just a little bit counts.

3. Send out invitations printed on recycled or tree free paper. Companies like Twisted Limb offer beautiful wedding invitations made of recycled, handmade paper.

4. Wear a gorgeously green gown. Your eco-friendly wedding gown may be something borrowed, a family heirloom, a gently used dress, or a vintage beauty. It could also be made from sustainable eco-friendly fabrics like bamboo, hemp, organic cotton or peace silk. The options keep growing everyday as new eco-designers appear or traditional designers add eco-friendly selections to their lines of wedding gowns. Get your bride and groom wedding rings green also,
Brilliant Earth.

5. Less is more. One option is to cut out all the unnecessary extras like favors, menus, place cards and things that are not needed. This saves resources and money. If you would like to get favors go to
Beau Coup , Little Things Favors , Bella Figura , Nature's Gifts & More , The wedding favors bar , GetMarried , I do , Endangered Species Chocolate for eco-friendly favor ideas.

6. Get creative with your décor. Nature is full of beautiful items that can be sued to decorate then be returned to nature after the wedding; rocks, twigs, flowers, potted plants, trees, leaves…Use the bountiful options nature offers to create stunning decorations, centerpieces and more. Once the wedding is over these pieces of nature can be placed in your yard or garden.

7. Ditch the disposables. Forget about disposable plates, napkins, silverware and all that. Opt for rented items that can be washed and reused over and over again. If you are having a small intimate wedding you would even consider purchasing tablecloths, plates and tableware that you could reuse in your home after the wedding.

8. Candle light is extremely romantic; make it eco-friendly as well by using natural soy wax or beeswax candles. Regular candles are made with paraffin, a petroleum based product. Not a green choice.

9. Green your transportation. Arrive to your destinations in eco-style with hybrid or electric vehicles. You could even provide transportation for your guests with buses that run on biofuels.

10. Have a great green honeymoon. After your wedding plan to stay close to home or travel to an eco-resort or hotel to keep the green going after the big day.

Green Wedding

My husband and I went to dinner last night with two of our good friends, Heather and Daniel. They recently got engaged and are planning their wedding for Jan 2010. Heather and I were talking about her wedding ideas and she told me that they were going to be having an eco-friendly wedding. I thought that was such a great idea! I have read alot about this being the new wedding craze for this year and to come, but haven't done enough research on it!

Creating a wedding that isn't wasteful or polluting is appealing to more and more brides. The number of earth-friendly products and services is growing, giving the bride and groom a range of options. A lot of it is buying local fresh flowers from the Alachua farmers markets or nurseries. Or for instance, supporting a local artisan is much more earth friendly than having cheap trinkets shipped half way around the world! Eco-friendly brides and grooms are not only doing good for our envirnment but also helping the community.

Im excited about doing more research in helping Heather plan her Eco-friendly wedding in Gainesville :)

Pink & Brown Bridal Shower

A good friend of the family Mandy Bremer (aka Miss Dumpling, on Wedding Bee) is getting married March 20th 2009 in Las Vegas. Back in January my mom and I helped plan her Bridal Shower in Tuscaloosa AL. It was the perfect weekend for a shower. For months before the shower her sister and I were emailing back and forth assigning certain tasks and things to haul all the way from Gainesville FL to Tuscalossa. Down to the nitty gritty details, my mom and I made it to AL with a car loaded down with square plates, silverware, wine glasses, decor, favors, linens and much much more. Everything turned out so beautifully, Miss Dumpling loved her shower!

* The Tables *

Each table had handmade table runners (pink and brown) in Damask and Polk-a-dot print. Square mirror attopped with glass rectangle vases wrapped in ribbon, filled with pink carnations and (alternate tables) hydrangeas. Each table setting had white large square plates, wine glasses rimmed with pink sugar, brown ribbon tied pink napkins and the take out box favors.

* Favors *

Each guest received handmade favors. I bought white chinese take out boxes that I filled with Bath and Body Works minature lotions and white curly filling. I cut to length brown and pink ribbon that I glued from top front to top back. Placed printed tags " Mandy's Bridal Shower" and date in the center front. For the final touch tied a small bow on the top. Everyone loved them and can you believe cost me only $1.50 for each favor!

* Food *

My mom and I took care of all the food. We had about 25 guests all together and the shower was around 3 in the afternoon, so we wanted to take it easy and make simple good elegant food.

Pink Lemonade

3 cartons - Minute Maid Pink Lemonade concentrate

2 Liters - Sprite

Artichoke Parmesan Crostinis

1 package - garlic toasted rounds

2 jars - marinated artichokes

1 container - freshly grated parmesan cheese

Chicken Heart you Sandwiches

4 packages - Premade (Publix) Chicken Salad

2 Loafs - Wheat Bread

1 heart shaped cookie cutter

Arugula Pasta Salad

Marinated Shrimp

Pink Fruit Salad

Cupcakes

Everyone thought the food was just absolutely delish! And I did too. I was very proud of it all. Most of all I enjoyed making and seeing the cupcakes finished. Don't they look great?!

* Shower Games *

We played only a couple shower games. Mandy wasn't too fond being the center of attention so we tried to keep each game short. First game we played was a question and answer game to see how well she knew her fiance'. Surprisingly she didn't do well but he had answers that were old and not up to date, so I guess she didn't do so bad. lol.

The next game we played was the dress the bride in toilet paper. Here the guests joined in and made a wedding dress out of Charmin. As you can see Mandy's dress turned out really good, next future Madonna labeled Charmin dress.

* Gifts *

Knowing me I wanted to make a little gift basket for the bride to be. I got most of the items from Victorias Secret. Like body glitter, sleep mask, (to be funny) "Smack That" underwear, sexy white laced thong, pink travel luggage tag (for her new name on the honeymoon), fuzzy pink nail filer. Mandy actually didn't want anyone to give her gifts. She actually had everyone donate money to the Brides Against Breast Cancer. Mandy wore a pink breast cancer pin during the shower. A very cute idea to take over gifts.

The shower was a complete success and Mandy loved it! It was a complete honor to do the shower for Mandy and be around her family. I love them all dearly!

From the items I made a storybook about the mommy to be and her baby. As she reads the story and comes to the numbered item, she finds it in the basket and opens it, filling in the blank of the story. Once she's done everyone will applaude and think how creative and cute this gift was, plus the mommy and baby have lots of gifts! You can go as cheap or expensive on this idea. For help email me.

Oh baby BOY

One of my best friends Brittani was having a baby Boy in April 08. My friend Sheena and I hosted a shower for her. Here's the cute details :)

I bought Large wooden letters and painted them blue and white to put up for decor. After the shower I gave them to Brittani for Cade's room. A cute and memorable touch.

The Cake was designed as baby building blocks and spelled "BABY" (when looking at it from the front) I had a talented friend make the cake for the shower

We played 3 different games at the shower -

1st one: We had 2 Cabbage Patch dolls diapered and dressed in dresses, made 2 teams of 3 (make sure to include the Mother to be and grandmas). At the same time each team started by having one hand behind there back and had to undress the baby completey, next one up had to dress the baby and last one undressed the baby. First team to finish all got a prize!

2nd game: We bought 8 different jars of baby food, removed the labels and numbered each jar. Each guest received a piece of paper and pen and had to guess by the color and smell of the baby food what was in the jar. Whoever got all 8 correct won a prize. Believe me this game was not easy!

3rd game: Get the Mother to be, and Grandmas together. Put them in a circle and hand them each a real baby bottle filled with apple juice. Fill the bottle about a 1/4 full and each person must feed the one to their left. Whoever finishes the bottle first gets a prize. This is a good laugh!
The shower was a huge success, I think we had about 35 people at this shower. We had Mimosas for each guest in wine glasses decorated with ribbon and plenty of healthy snacks for the guests and Mother to be.

Bachelorette Planning Checklist

Whether you’re planning an intimate dinner with the bride and her friends or going out for a night on the town, this Bachelorette Party checklist will help you prepare for the party of a lifetime.

3 Months Before the Bachelorette Party

  • Ask the bride what she wants (or doesn’t want) for her bachelorette party. Will it be dinner with close friends or a night out on the town?

  • While you want everyone’s attention focused on the bride, you don’t want to embarrass her. Talk with her to understand what she will and won’t be comfortable with.

  • Decide whether you want the party to be a surprise to the bride.

  • Set the party date. Aim for a weekend night about 2-3 weeks before the wedding that is convenient for the bride.

  • Start the guest list.

2 Months Before the Bachelorette Party

  • Email or mail a save-the-date request to everyone on the guest list. If the party is out-of-town, make sure to include as many specific details as possible so guests can make travel and lodging arrangements.

  • If you’re starting at a restaurant, call ahead and ask about group rates and reservations. This will help you save money and time.

  • Make transportation reservations. Options include a limo, bus, van, etc.

  • If you’re having the bachelorette party at someone’s home, help plan out a menu and refreshments. Divide tasks among bridesmaids and enlist their help with games, decorations, refreshments, music, etc.

1 Week Before the Bachelorette Party

  • Stock up on fun party favors for the bride and guests and other fun accessories.

  • Confirm RSVPs and let guests know the finalized plans.

  • Confirm transportation arrangements.

  • Confirm restaurant reservations.

  • Confirm any entertainment you have scheduled.

1 Day Before the Bachelorette Party

  • Make sure the bride knows where she’s going. Aside from this, it’s okay to keep some details a surprise.

  • Make up goody bags for the guests.

  • Get lots of rest so you can relax and enjoy the party!

Bachelorette Party Themes & Ideas

Fun & Naughty Bachelorette Ideas

The Bachelorette Pleasure Party - Invite a pleasure party professional to your home and she’ll do the rest…a night of naughty toys and drinks and the bride will have plenty of ideas for the wedding night!

The Bachelorette Scavenger Hunt - With this popular game you can send your bachelorettes all over town on a chase for the scavenger hunt list of goodies! For the best scavenger hunt make sure it has lot’s of personal things about the bride or fit’s with the theme of your bachelorette party!

The Bachelorette Limo - A favorite of the bachelorette party is to have a Limo and driver to get them safely to their favorite Bars, restaurants and events. This is a great way to ensure that Bachelorettes aren’t driving while under the influence of alcohol. Make certain you bring lot’s of Limo games and a CD of favorite bachelorette party songs for the drive!

Pole Dancing Lesson Bachelorette Party - Arrange for a pole dancing lesson for your bride and bachelorettes! Be sure to bring a prize for the “best Moves” and “most likely to get a BIG tip”. This is a lesson the bride may find useful on her honeymoon!

Striptease Bachelorette Party - Invite the Bride-to-be over for an old fashion striptease! When your “police officer” or “fireman” arrives, make sure the bride has plenty of one dollar bills for her lap dance!

Spa Day Bachelorette Party - What is more relaxing than a Mani/Pedi with your friends! Plan to play the brides favorite music, serve her favorite drinks, and enjoy some quality girl-time!

Bachelorette Beach Party - Share a day under the warm sun with the Bride and Bachelorettes. Bring food and enjoy games and drinks on the beach. After the sun sets on your lazy day, get loose downtown, beach style.

Massage Bachelorette Party - Start off with a massage class (complete with a HOT guy massage instructor) and end with a massage for each Bachelorette and the Bride. After your massage head to the local coffee house for some live music.

Last Minute Bachelorette Party Ideas

Bachelorette Back Yard BBQ - Build a fire in the fire pit, poor some wine or cold beer and invite the bachelorettes over for a fun time in the backyard. Add a few party games and this idea is a real winner!

Wine Tasting Bachelorette Party - Pick your theme (such as California Red Wines or Pinot Grigiot) from the Brides favorites and ask every Bachelorette to bring a bottle from this group. Grab some cheeses, bread and chocolate and you have yourself a party! To take it up another notch invite a local Sommelier to give the party a more educational flare!

Welcome to moi

Welcome to my page
* Chic Impressions *

So I have searched the web and read 1,000's of different blogs in the past years to finally decide on starting my very own. I tried to come up with a cute & catchy title that explains what I do. Chic Impression, a chic and fun style when first seen as a good impression? (hope that makes sense, lol) I've lived in Gainesville so far all of my 24 years... Im married with no kids (just yet). I work in an automotive family ran facility Continental Imports but have a passion for party planning and anything to do with Weddings! I spend most of my time surfing the web looking at weddings and party planning ideas. I literally wait patiently to hear from a friend or family member about a party they want to plan either for a baby/bridal shower or some sort of party or wedding.
